How weddings have changed over the decades! Coming from a handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight bridal party members; an easy wedding car to expensive and huge wedding cars; three course meals to course meals; one to three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
These are the latter, wedding speeches remain an important part of a married relationship and guests do look forward to hearing them, referring to them before, during and even after they’ve been delivered.
We are all aware of wedding speeches delivered prior to the meal, during the meal after the meal, yet it’s of the strong opinion that the wedding speeches must be delivered as soon as the meal. I know that for most wedding ceremony speakers i.e. Father with the Bride Speech, Father of the groom speech (the 5 main speakers), they’d want to possess the wedding speeches prior to meal, for them to enjoy their meal (many of them are spending money for it!). However, all is here the invited guests and how a lot of them (as well as the wedding ceremony venue staff) would like the wedding speeches to get delivered after the meal for a lot of reasons, some of which include:
The invited guests happen to be fed and watered and are not playing wedding speeches on an empty stomach (at least of food, which will be so before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival at the wedding venue)
Food can be cooked and served on the agreed time (introduce wedding ceremony speeches prior to the meal in addition to their can be quite a delay of Quarter-hour to a single.5 hours, driving your home staff crazy continuing to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
Wedding ceremony speeches behave as the transition through the meal to the dancing (without a penny happening after the meal, individuals are expecting ‘a few words’ being shared regarding the Bride & Groom and they understand they can get out of bed, move around, take a rest, go for a walk, go to the bar…)
It can be difficult for fogeys with the Bride & Groom to communicate in in public areas, the majority of them couldn’t survive used of it. So, they might, if they so wished, speak ahead of the / their meal.
There should nevertheless be some type of formal wedding speech(es) after the meal…
