How weddings have changed over the decades! From the handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding ceremony members; a straightforward wedding car to expensive and huge wedding cars; three course meals in order to six course meals; one-three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about the latter, wedding speeches are nevertheless a fundamental part of a married relationship and guests do look ahead to hearing them, speaking about them before, during and even after they’ve been delivered.
We are all aware of groom speech delivered prior to meal, in the meal after the meal, yet it is of an strong opinion the wedding speeches must be delivered following the meal. I know that for a lot of wedding party speakers i.e. Father from the Bride Speech, Father in the Groom Speech, Bride Speech, Groom Speech and Bestman Speech (the five main speakers), they would would rather hold the wedding speeches ahead of the meal, for them to enjoy their meal (some of them are spending money for it!). However, is going on the invited guests and how many (as well as the wedding ceremony venue staff) would prefer the wedding ceremony speeches to become delivered following your meal for a lot of reasons, a few of which include:
The invited guests have been fed and watered and are not paying attention to wedding speeches before eating anything (at least of food, which will be the case before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival at the wedding venue)
Food might be cooked and served with the agreed time (introduce wedding ceremony speeches ahead of the meal as well as their is actually a delay of 15 minutes to a single.5 hours, driving your home staff crazy continuing to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
Wedding ceremony speeches work as the transition through the meal towards the dancing (with nothing happening following your meal, folks are expecting ‘a few words’ to get shared regarding the Bride & Groom after which it they do know they could get up, move about, have a break, take a stroll, visit the bar…)
It’s a challenge for fogeys from the Bride & Groom to talk in public, the majority of them would not be used than it. So, they could, when they so wished, speak before the / their meal.
There should nevertheless be some form of formal wedding speech(es) as soon as the meal…
