How weddings have changed over the decades! From the handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding ceremony members; a straightforward wedding car to expensive and large wedding cars; three course meals to six course meals; one to three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
These are rogues, wedding speeches continue to be an important part of a marriage and guests do look ahead to hearing them, speaking about them before, during as wll as after they’ve been delivered.
We have all heard of wedding speeches delivered prior to meal, throughout the meal after your food, however it is of an strong opinion the father of the groom speech needs to be delivered following the meal. I am aware that for many bridal party speakers i.e. Father with the Bride Speech, Father with the Groom Speech, Bride Speech, Groom Speech and Bestman Speech (the five main speakers), they would choose to possess the wedding speeches prior to meal, to allow them to enjoy their meal (many of them are paying for it!). However, is going on the invited guests and how many (as wll as the marriage venue staff) would prefer the wedding ceremony speeches being delivered following the meal for most reasons, many of which include:
The invited guests have been fed and watered and aren’t playing wedding speeches before eating anything (at least of food, which could be the case prior to the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival on the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served in the agreed time (introduce the marriage speeches ahead of the meal and their can be quite a delay of Quarter-hour one.5 hours, driving the kitchen staff crazy attempting to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
Wedding ceremony speeches become the transition from your meal towards the dancing (with nothing happening following the meal, people are expecting ‘a few words’ to be shared concerning the Bride & Groom after which they do know they can wake up, move around, take a rest, go for a walk, navigate to the bar…)
It can be difficult for folks of the Bride & Groom to communicate in in public, as the majority of them wouldn’t be used of it. So, they can, when they so wished, speak prior to / their meal.
There should be some form of formal wedding speech(es) after the meal…
