Everyday Theology

Whenever the term “Theology” is mentioned, pictures of the seminary, thick theological books, Greek and Hebrew terms, as well as other highfalutin expressions would come around one’s mind. It appears as if “Theology” is available to the “holy ones”, the “chosen ones”, as well as the intellectuals. If you’re knowledgeable about the writings of Karl Barth, Martin Luther, Augustine, and the likes, you’re all-around inner near to the group of friends of biblical scholars.

Much more when you can speak their language and is able to produce an academically accepted theological work. I have been previously students of the Bible School and Theological seminary. Both institutions have helped me to own deeper insight to Church History, Systematic Theology and Biblical backgrounds. Yet even midst the lessons and classroom discussions, questions still roam over the internet. Are all these true? Please don’t do not understand. I’m a firm believer the Bible could be the sole authority over life. I believe that the Bible could be the Word of God. But being a typical mortal, I will be caught involving the an entire world of reality and faith, and bridging the space from to the other is a reasonably mental and spiritual feat. Yet, I think, too that God’s Spirit and charm are at try to teach us beyond exactly what the mind can’t comprehend.

Theology is understood to be the research into God, in the Greek word “Theos” (God) and “logos” (study of). Based on such, does is mean that Theology be learned? Can God be grasped with the human mind? Can God be described by simply words? If an individual features a doctorate degree in Theology, would that mean that, the pharmacist has already a good grasped of God Himself?

I’ve met professors of various degrees, and I have met simple folks with simple thoughts. Yet, comparing how they view God and express who God is to them, the first sort (most, however, not all) would’ve a mouthful of jargon of expressions in the books… a Greek word there… a Hebrew term there… leaving her or his listeners at reduction in space. On creationism , the second, be simple ones, would speak of practical things they’ve got experienced of God’s character. If on their behalf God is nice, chances are they’ll testify of how God presents for the kids or has given them good stuff.

From whom would I listen more, towards the academician or individual who has the experiences? It is a common proclaiming that “Experience is the greatest teacher.” Theory would only remain a theory unless it is proven true by experiments or by real experience. In other words, Theology would basically be mere notion of God, unless you have a true experience of that truth about God.

God is actually real, but unless that reality transcends mental performance and is also experienced with everyday situations, the conviction of which truth would never go deep in the center and soul, nor he or she may convince others to believe in such truth.
