When researching the benefits and all of the bells and whistles, I started to become very overwhelmed with the amount of information on the internet. This company sells this, at this strength, at this dose and it can be a very daunting process for a beginner. However, an old friend of mine is available to help!
Piedmont Green was formed in 2019 by Eric Abarelli and Christian Dobson with the intention to bring a holistic and natural approach to healthy living through the benefits of CBD. They are located in Kannapolis, North Carolina and have built a solid business despite living in the Bible Belt, which opposes cannabis use. The team and their business have had such an impact on the community that they were able change people’s minds by educating them about CBD and its benefits. They also grow and make the products from their hemp, which makes it a small organic business.
What is CBD?
Eric was kind enough to explain what CBD is and how it affects our bodies. Here’s what he had for us:
“Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a derivative of the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is non-psychoactive and contains very little THC (legal limit is 0.3%). Everybody has an Endocannabinoid, which is a system that binds with one’s nervous system, organs, and skeletal structures. It’s composed of CB1-CB2 receptors, which are dormant cannabis receptors that are waiting for an external source. This system works in conjunction with the body to regulate serotonin dopamine, oxytocin and dopamine. Please do not self-diagnose, or do any other thing without consulting a doctor.
The Potential Benefits of Using CBD
Eric mentioned the many benefits of CBD to me, but the FDA has yet to approve the product. On the bright side, “The FDA has approved only one CBD product, a prescription drug product to treat seizures associated with Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS), Dravet syndrome (DS), or tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in people one year of age and older.” Which gives hope for the future and a more holistic approach to medicine.
However, with dozens of testimonies from the use of CBD, Americans are surprised that it is not prescribed by doctors. Despite the growth of medical marijuana cards across the United States, it is still yet to be legal in all 50 states. The updated list is here. On a better note, here might be some of the benefits of using CBD:
CBD could help with muscle pain/spasms and insomnia/sleep problems, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders, skin conditions (such as eczema or psoriasis), joint pains, Crohn’s Disease, IBS and migraines.
CBD could help with attention disorders like ADHD and ADD.
CBD could help with certain cancer-related issues.
CBD may relieve blood pressure and oxidative stress on the heart.
CBD may help with lowering eye pressure.
CBD may help with anxiety and stress and acts as a mood stabilizer.
CBD can help with epilepsy and seizures
